Whale watching in Húsavík, Iceland

Apr 3 '10
You should know from the outset, the following: Iceland may be green, and Greenland may be icy, but Iceland still has some pretty large chunks of ice on it, at least at the time of this writing. Iceland is a volcanic island, located at the intersection of the tectonic plates of Europe and North America. It is home to Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajökull. The location makes for a great deal of seismic activity. In 1963, in fact, a volcanic eruption produced a new island, Surtsey, off the south coast of Iceland.
